should i buy another cheap bench grinder or a good one like dewalt?

I broke my second cheap bench grinder sharpening my mower blades should i invest in one like DeWalt or Craftsman maybe
Any suggestions are well come on where to buy one and what brand

Buy the best bench grinder your budget can afford. If I could afford it I would get dewalt.. A good one will do the best job, as you will get away from a lot of vibration found on cheap grinder.

Sharpening Knives

Years ago, the only kind of knife sharpening there was was on a bench stone. They do still exist, but there are many more kinds of sharpeners available now for just about any kind of knife or tool. The kind of knife sharpener you choose will be determined by the kinds of things you need to sharpen.

Grinding Wheels

A grinding wheel is a solid piece of abrasive stone that cuts away some of the material to reveal a sharper edge. Many different kinds of abrasive materials can be used in a grinding wheel. Aluminum oxide is the most common material and comes in different grades of oxide, differentiated by a coding system of a letter and a number. This is the best material for sharpening such hard materials as annealed iron, wrought iron, steel or bronze.

A combination that yields a very durable wheel is zirconium oxide and aluminum, known as zircon alumina. This is the second most common material for grinding, after aluminum oxide, and is a very good material for steels and alloys.

A new development in materials for grinding is ceramic aluminum oxide. This is an extremely strong material that is ideal when a great deal of precision is required. Ceramic aluminum may be blended with another material to a desired abrasiveness, depending on the item that has to be sharpened.

Grinding wheels come in many shapes, with the straight wheel being the most common. A straight wheel has a cutting edge that faces front. A cylinder wheel is a drum shaped wheel, with a wide surface to cut on, on the front of the cylinder.

Grit size is very important when you have to choose the right wheel for a sharpening job. The higher the number, the finer the grit, so that a grit of 10 or 20 will be very course, and a grit of 100 or 200 will be much finer. A fine grit grinder is used for finishing work.

Bench Grinder

The old standby of a bench grinder is still the most dependable and inexpensive way to sharpen knives as well as cutters, hand tools or drill bits. A bench grinder can be mounted on a workbench to make it easier to use. The wheels can vary in size from 6 to 10 inch diameters, and usually have a motor that is 1/3 to one horsepower. The best kinds will have a place to rest the tool so it remains steady.

Chain Saw Sharpeners

These are specialized sharpeners that are used specifically for chain saws. If you use your chain saw a lot, you may want to own one. There are automatic ones the lock the chain in place when the wheel is lowered, then each tooth is set into the sharpener at an angle; the head is pulled up each time and moved to the next tooth. This will assure uniformity. Manual sharpeners are much less expensive and with proper use can be very precise. The manual lever locks the chain in place while each tooth is filed. Since many manual chain saw sharpeners come with more than one wheel, they can be used with different chains.

Decker Firestorm
can't get drill bit in a cordless drill?

I have a firestorm black and decker cordless drill and i can't seem to get the drill bit back in.

The part that holds the drill bit is called the chuck. The chuck can open and close to hold different bits. I would guess that maybe you've inadvertently closed the chuck all the way. First, push the toggle switch located near the trigger so the chuck spins counter-clockwise (with the drill pointed away from you), then grip the chuck and turn it clock-wise. It may take a little force like opening a tough pickle jar. Then open it wide enough to insert the drill bit and re-tighten by turning the chuck counter-clockwise. Use some force so that the bit is nice and tight. Put the drill back into forward by push the toggle switch the other way. Sometimes, if the chuck is really closed tight, I will run the drill fast in reverse (counter-clockwise) and then grab the chuck hard while it's spinning and that will provide the necessary force to break it loose. Although I might not recommend doing this if you are fairly new to power tools.

The Benefits of Carbide Tipped Tools

Carbide (also known as titanium carbide or tungsten carbide) is a chemical compound that is commonly used for tipping cutting tools. Carbide is hard and durable, but most importantly, it stays sharp for longer periods of time than most other metals. While too brittle and expensive to be used for the entire tool body, carbide is the ideal tip for saws blades, routers, lathe bits, and drill bits. I recommend seeking out carbide tipped saw blades and routers if you plan on doing serious metal or wood working. The following is some basic information you should know before considering or selecting a carbide-tipped tool.

• Carbide is both highly heat resistant (melting point of 2,870 °C / 5,200 °F) and extremely hard (8.5–9.0 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness.)
• Carbide tipped saw blades have a longer “tool life” than basic steel tools because of their extreme durability. This is especially relevant for higher speeds and feeds associated with more aggressive machining. If you plan on using your tool frequently on hard or dense materials, carbide tips are a must.
• Carbide tipped tools are slightly more expensive, but they stay sharp anywhere from ten to twenty times longer than a simple steel tip.
• Carbide tips are also less likely to crater when machining more abrasive materials.
• Because of its strength, carbide sharpening requires a specific type of abrasive, preferably something coated in diamond or a carbide abrasive wheel.
• C-2 carbide tips are used for cutting non-ferrous materials such as cast iron.
• C-5 carbide tips are used for cutting steel materials.
