Men have this primeval instinct or desire to create with their own hands. This is the same desire or instinct that resulted to the first tools that helped man advance into creating civilizations. From the simple stone axe to hammers made of iron to power tools that run on electricity, these tools all have one common reason: to assist man in his creating processes.

Let's fast forward to the more recent times. Although it has long been stopped from showing, you may have seen an episode or two of Tim Allen's hit TV show, "Home Improvement." On every episode there's always a scene of Tim doing some projects in his workshop located right in his house. There you can see all the tools commonly used in such a workshop. You can see hammers, nails, rulers, wood planks, screws, and of course the power tools that are hanging on the walls or lying on top of the work tables. We would sometimes even see Tim making use of some of those power tools. One thing for sure, the power tools do make Tim's life so much easier.

Almost every handyman classifies his power tools in a much simpler category. Those power tools that have cords and those that are cordless. And what's the difference? It's in the convenience. It's much more convenient to use a cordless power tool because you don't have to worry about the cord being too short or getting in the way while you're working.

Batteries operate cordless power tools, so they last as long as the batteries will last. This is usually for hours on end as power tools were designed for long period of continuous use. Imagine the ease of using these power tools without the hassle of minding the cord every time you make a turn to do something.

One of the most popular power tools is the jig saw. What a weird name you might ask, but it's actually quite befitting. A jig saw is used in cutting curves, especially those of the arbitrary type. It is commonly used on wood, but it can also cut through other similar materials. The jig saw is very useful in cutting creative patterns.

And just like with other power tools, a jig saw (although the more common types are the old fashioned hand type) is also available in both corded and cordless versions. There is one thing the cordless jig saw will come very handy for - cutting of oddly shaped patterns, as there won't be any cords that can get entangled while you're cutting in every direction possible. Because that is what you will be doing when you make use of the jig saw on the elaborate patterns.

Power tools are very handy tools that should always be present in any serious handyman's workshop. Especially the cordless types as these provide the most convenience and ease of use among all the other tools. There are many brands to choose from so if you're considering purchasing one, do a little bit more research first.
